Giclee Canvas 24" x 36"

Edition Size: 200

The Plains Indians were a matriarchal society, but the life of a Plains woman was hard, with little time for recreation.  Preparing hides, making clothing and cooking meals were a constant focus.  While it is true that everyone in the tribe had a hand in rearing the children, the main responsibility for this fell to the woman as well.  Plains women faced other hardships as well, being the ones left behind while the men went on dangerous ventures like buffalo hunts and war party raids.  This woman is completing work on a bone ornament while waiting for the return of her husband.  He is overdue and her concern is plain.
